Anodized Rail Housing, Slide Bar and Contoured Link Set for a Linear Module
Three parts from one assembly machined together so the slide fitted the anodized housing after coating, with a swept link contoured from both faces on the same dowel datum.

CNC Milling
Aluminum 6061-T6, Anodizing
What The Project Asked For
An automation module builder ordered a three-part set: a black anodized housing with contoured internal pockets, a bright machined slide bar with milled grooves and a swept link with a three-dimensional contour on both faces. The slide runs in the housing, so the fit after anodizing was the requirement that mattered.
Housing pockets and the slide bar were machined to pre-anodizing sizes and checked again after coating. The link was contoured from both faces in two setups located on the same dowel holes so the two contours meet correctly.
The set was delivered assembled, with the slide fit and pocket depth verified after the parts came back from the coater.

How This Project Ran
What the drawing asked for, how the part was machined and inspected, and what was shipped at the end.
Anodizing adds thickness to both the pocket and the slide, so a fit that is correct before coating is tight afterwards. The link contour has to be cut from both sides, and if the second setup does not locate on the same datum as the first, the two contours do not meet at the edge.
The pocket width and the slide bar were machined to pre-coating sizes worked back from the anodizing thickness, and the fit was checked after coating rather than before. The link was located on its dowel holes for both setups so the top and bottom contours share one datum. Pocket depth and contour heights were measured from the dowel datum on the granite plate, and the slide fit was checked with pin gauges after anodizing.
The slide fitted the anodized housing without lapping and the link contours met cleanly at the edges. The set was delivered as an assembly with the post-coating fit recorded.
