Part Overview

What This Part Does And What Matters On It

The function of the part, the features that carry the fit, and the requirements that decided how it was machined and checked.

A thin machined plate with four-finger forks along one edge, lightening pockets in the body and a full pattern of mounting and dowel holes, finished in anodizing. The forks and the dowel pattern are the controlling features: the outline can vary, the finger positions cannot.

Thin plates like this are roughed, released and finished with light passes so they stay flat after the clamps come off, and the finger positions are checked against the dowel pattern rather than against the outline. Where a fit feature is anodized it is machined to a pre-coating size.

Tell us what the forks carry and how the plate locates on the machine. The datum scheme decides the setup count, and the setup count is most of the price.

How This Part Was Machined

Thin plate roughed, released and finished with light passes to hold flatness; finger positions and the dowel pattern are cut from one datum in one setup. Fit features machined to a pre-anodizing size.

Every Quote Comes With DFM Notes

Owen reads the drawing before pricing it: tolerances that add cost, features that need a second setup, finishes that change lead time. Send a STEP or PDF with the material and quantity, and the quote reflects what is actually machinable, within 24 hours on business days.
