Part Overview

What This Part Does And What Matters On It

The function of the part, the features that carry the fit, and the requirements that decided how it was machined and checked.

A long die holder carrying a row of seventeen identical wire-cut inserts, each with a bore and a profiled tip, seated in a milled channel. The holder is milled; the insert profiles are cut by wire EDM so that every position has the same geometry and the same corner radius.

The controlling dimension is the accumulated pitch across the full row. Each insert is measured individually, and the assembled row is measured end to end, because an error that is small on one position becomes a misfeed at the seventeenth. Where the inserts are hardened, the profile is cut after heat treatment so the finished feature does not carry the distortion of the furnace.

Send the strip layout and the material condition; both change the process route and the price.

How This Part Was Machined

Holder milled soft; inserts rough milled, hardened to 58–60 HRC, then profile and bore wire cut after heat treatment so the finished features carry no hardening distortion. Inserts made interchangeable within the set.

Every Quote Comes With DFM Notes

Owen reads the drawing before pricing it: tolerances that add cost, features that need a second setup, finishes that change lead time. Send a STEP or PDF with the material and quantity, and the quote reflects what is actually machinable, within 24 hours on business days.
